There is more to the resurrection

There is much more to the resurrection
A greater depth in Christ’s ascension…
The King’s gifts at His glorification !.

More than just forgiveness
And a cleansing of the conscience…
An empowering to His likeness !.

At legalism’s funeral
Gifts were distributed supernatural…
Marries the powerful and the Pastoral !.

Five fold ministry; a gift to the church
To grow and heal the broken and hurt…
Equipping saints, supernatural life dispersed !.

But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore He says:

“When He ascended on high,
He led captivity captive,
And gave gifts to men.”

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,

– for the equipping of the saints
– for the work of ministry,
– for the edifying of the body of Christ,

till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,

but, speaking the truth in love,

may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— (Ephesians 4:7, 8, 11-15 NKJV)

As quick as a thought

As quick as a thought
I abide in Christ
reach out to the vine
unplug his Life. 1

As quick as a thought
I open the door
unlocking the grace
assured by the sworn. 2

As quick as a thought
I realise the peace
that cushions the blow
at the heavenly seat. 3

All that I need
focused on the Lord
in the twinkled eye
As quick as a thought. 4,5

1. John 15:4-5 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

2. Hebrews 6:13-17 “For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.”And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute. Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath…”

3. Ephesians 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,”

4. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 “Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”

5. Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—think on these things. Romans 12:2 “…be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

It’s all God’s fault

Mother’s cry
Children sigh
Soldiers bleed.

Stomachs empty
Jobless plenty
Crime so high
People’s lies.

Life is tough
Not enough
Look for more
Nothing in store.

Corrupt regimes
Sponge the cream
Death abounds
Sickness hounds.

Earthquakes rattle
Empty chapels
Fires and floods
Gangs with thugs.

There is no devil,
There is no evil
There is no sin nature, therefore
It’s all God’s fault.

Blame Him.

A nescient heart will not concede

The singer sings about what he knows
The poets jest about what they see,
But their three dimensions wink then lie
That God is to blame for every tear.

The poet says there’s no promise land
And God only leads to the slaughter house
The professors dance on The Shepherd’s grave
With the culture’s beat and poisoned advice.

But Truth came to save us from all the despair
He’s not the creator of bullets and pain,
The way to the answer is the unseen realm
And spiritual eyes with a will ex-changed.

He doesn’t send anyone down hell’s shute
To a separation from what they seek,
But paid for the answer that rescues the injured
But a nescient heart will not concede.

“nescient” – not fully developed, unknowingness, ignorant, especially in things of the natural and spiritual.

Keeping the wilderness populated

The life than ran from the spiritual throne
Like the river running from the mountain of blessing
Came at a moment of need and time
And dry bones received that life giving Spirit
Was for that season mainly in the past.

To mature we must let the river run
And continue to taste the heavenly gift
Else yesterday’s water becomes brackish dull
And brings a poisoned taste in the mouth.

Revelation flows to the tender heart
And not from the grip of yesterday’s vision
Or from the cup that has no sparkle.

Resisting the river decays the heart
And the calloused soul that means well.

Focus on the stagnant keeps the wilderness populated.

I am not alone

Feeling alone
No flesh on the bone
Heavy as a stone
No wind in the sails
Not even a breeze.

Yet I am not alone
Lying emotions try to take control
Of a vulnerable rudder
Trying to steer to a sea of darkness
But I steer to Jesus who is bright
Reassuring commitment to me as I float
I am not alone.

Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. (John 16:32 NKJV)

Why no’ live there ?

Christ has not come to keep us in chains
There is no gift of wilderness
There is no gift of living in a desert
Why live there ?.

The preacher cries how to live
In the place where there is waterless clouds
To assist you in a wandering place
Why live there ?.

The river does not flow dry
The clouds are not waterless
Cross over the Jordan to the other side
Why not live there ?.

The storm is past so the bagpipe can play
The tune of the redeemed
In the place that God builds
Why no’ live there ?

For he (Abraham) looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. (Hebrews 11:10 KJV)

My beloved spoke, and said to me: “Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away. For lo, the winter is past, The rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; The time of singing has come, And the voice of the turtledove Is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth her green figs, And the vines with the tender grapes Give a good smell. Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away! (Song of Solomon 2:10-13 NKJV)

If the clouds are full of rain, They empty themselves upon the earth…(Ecclesiastes 11:3 NKJV)

Note: this poem is a wee response to all the preaching about telling people how to “live in the desert…how to live in the wilderness”. What good is it to live there ?. Cross the Jordan…get to the other side and live in the place where God has provided for you; in the life of Christ !. Lets not learn to live in the desert, but learn to live in the promised land. The giants may be big, but a believer is not a grasshopper but more than a conqueror because a Jesus has already conquered !. We just enjoy the spoils !.

The journey from compulsion

But without your consent I wanted to do nothing, that your good deed might not be by compulsion, as it were, but voluntary. (Philemon 1:14 NKJV)

The redemption of God is beyond forgiveness
And insurance against eternal separation
From the God who shares His life with the known.

Redemption creeps from the changed heart
And crawls to capture the swinging emotions
And caterpillars through the chained mind.

Redemption once instant then works by stealth
What was by compulsion becomes voluntary
The desire changing to labour for righteousness.

The exchanged heart gains new cravings
The forgiveness, the new status begins to work
From compulsion until it looks like Christ !.
