Don’t sell your soul

My cousin put a photo of herself on Facebook
For every testosterone teenager to have a look.

But deep within myself, my heart bleeds
Because she doesn’t see the things I see.

I see a little girl who cries out for significance
I see a little girl who cries out for love.

I see a women who doesn’t know her inner beauty
I see a women who doesn’t know herself.

I pray that that she doesn’t sell her soul
To every man who’ll tell her what she wants to know.

I pray that she will see she is already loved
I pray that she will not succumb to what she craves.

I pray she’ll buy the truth that doesn’t cost
And not sell her soul for things that are meaningless.

Too many women have walked this road before
Please, please, please, don’t sell your soul !.
