How do I influence people ?

How do I influence people
to get them to see His love ?
to get them know His grace
to see He really is God ?.

I have learned a little secret
we only have a part
we don’t speak direct to emotions
we don’t speak direct to the heart.

We don’t even speak to the will
we don’t speak direct to the mind
the only way is to influence
with knowledge so they will find.

That Jesus is the Way
understanding is the key
understanding unlocks the door
to the things they need to see.

The Spirit confronts the mind
The Spirit confronts the heart
The Spirit does the Work
Giving knowldege is simply my part.

What makes Jesus different to other Gods ?

Why is Jesus different asked a person to me one day
What sets Him apart from the rest ?
Why should I know Him more than any other God
So I set out to answer his request.

I asked him is there any other God who lived here on Earth
And worked to try to earn a sweaty crust ?
One who identifies with our hurt and pain
Any other God who comes to us ?.

I showed him that with other God’s that you must pay for sin
By working hard and doing what it asks
But Jesus came to us to sacrifice Himself
A self sacrificing God you can trust.

A big thing with God is how He motivates us
Fear is not whats on the mind of God
He doesn’t drive or demand things we cannot give
For He only motivates us with His love.

We could also mention grace and love and hIs resurrection
No other God can show an empty tomb
And He lives and dwells in people and not in boring buildings
The trinity has left nothing to assume.

The person looked and stared yet had a smiling face
He saw things he never seen before
I sensed a rising faith and a joy from new belief
Seeing Jesus opens up that door.

Note : The person who asked me this was a prisoner in his cell. The following Sunday afternoon at the prison service, I preached the points that in this poem. Every prisoner in the service, including the prison guard was thinking hard about their faith in Jesus. They all left the service with a fresh view of Jesus, and a re-newed belief that He is the truth.

The City

Abraham looked for a city whose builder and maker was God
A city that was not made by hands,
A city that God had promised would number the stars in the sky
A city that was not made by man.

John in the spirit found the city whose builder and maker is God
The city that you can’t see by sight,
Where a beautiful bride for a husband dwells and lives with her
Dispelling the dark because the Lamb IS the Light !.

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. (Hebrews 11:8, 10 NKJV)

And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. (Revelation 21:10, 22, 23 NKJV)

Universalism is not true

Something again has raised its ugly head
And cashed up preachers will tell
That one day we’ll all be in heaven
And there’s real no place called “hell”.

The Spirit calls it a “wind of doctrine”
it comes and goes as it pleases
But universalism cannot be true
It’s one of those lying diseases.

I would love to think that we are all His
And hell is only a short period of time
But only those who go through The Door
Are those set free from sin’s crime.

We must realize that we are not God
And that He can do as He chooses
We can’t bring Him down to our level
To box Him into what pleases.

God is clear and states with no doubt
That hell is an unquenchable fire
And torment is reserved for robbers and thieves
And false prophets go there with the liar.

Hell is not a place here on Earth
Where suffering is what we all feel
Hell is a place of retributive punishment
There is no “let’s make a deal”.

God is a God of mercy and love
There is no two ways about that
But it’s only for those in the Lamb’s book of life
Otherwise He is a God of wrath.

But God does not send us to hell when we die
You go if your still in your sin
Jesus came to save us from that
And reconcile us back to Him.

Note: universalism is raising its head again. Last time, it was when I was a teenager: it was call ultimate reconciliation then. We have to realize that we can’t reduce God to our level just because there are things about God we don’t like. I wish hell didn’t exist and my loved one never went there. But hell is real, and those who refuse Jesus go there. Ouch !. I don’t like it but it is I a reality whether I like it or not. Hell is not a type pf pergatory where people will get another chance at salvation. Its not in scripture. Its not a short period of time…its eternal. Jesus and the apostles describe hell as a real place of eternal judgement and torment. It is not here now. That’s what this poem is about.

Hello and welcome again for more news
To make ya laugh or cry in your pews

The weather across Britain is the same as usual
Now now, why on Earth did you think of a funeral ?

The hot air from Africa means some air will go oop
Mixed with cold air from the Atlantic will make some pea soup.

There’s been no rain for 3 days, we’ve gone without
Brace yourselves for a terrible miserable drought !.

But it will rain again in 2 days time
Breaking the drought without even trying.

The next day the sun will come out
So enjoy it while you can for one hour.

For then the weather will be the same
As it was today for it’ll start to rain.

Followed by wind and sleet then snow
All in one day mixed with wind that will blow.

The rain horizontal to the land you’ll see
Watering your plants and melting snow for free.

For not only is Britain the land of hope and glory
But also the land of the coat and brolly.

So sit and enjoy your flashy backgrounds of Britain
And the two minutes of entertainment while you are sittin’ !

Back to you at the news desk…make sure you believe everything you have just heard…

The yeast in the leaven

The kingdom of God is like a women
Who puts some yeast in the leaven
Three measures of meal
Shows us the Kingdom of heaven.

There are 2 sides to the coin
There is an aspect of the negative
That’s where most people focus
But there’s another side that’s positive.

For as we focus and believe
On the glories of Jesus Christ
He becomes the yeast within
That grows and becomes my life.

For the Spiritual measure of meal
Then over a period of time
Mixes into the unrecognizable
His life is infused with mine.

Without ever knowing when
My life and His become one
And effortless and joyful living
Through me looks like the Son !.

Luke 13:20-21 “And again He said, To what shall I liken the kingdom of God? It is like yeast which a woman having taken, hid in three measures of wheat flour until the whole of it was permeated by the yeast.” (Wuest version)

1 Corinthians 5:6-9 “Your boasting [in the state of the local assembly] is not seemly or fitting. Do you not know with a positive assurance that a little yeast permeates and affects the entire bread dough with itself? 7 Cleanse out completely, at once and for all, the old yeast which is part of a world which has passed away for you and out from which you were saved, in order that you may be a fresh aggregation of individuals, even as you are without yeast. For, indeed, our Passover was slain, Christ. 8 Wherefore, let us be keeping the feast, not with the yeast which has been relegated to a time that is past when we lived a life not for us today, neither with the yeast of malice and perniciousness, but with cakes permeated and affected by the yeast of an unadulterated life, having no admixture of evil in them, and having in them the yeast of truth.” (Wuest version)

You just may be near the end

There’s a traditional Indian custom
In the way they cook their rice
They wash it five times over
That’s their cooking advice.

This is what they say
You have to wash it five times
To sort out all the germs
And dirt and dust and grime.

But they cannot tell you
Which turn is the rice now clean
Was was it wash number 3 or 5
Or number 4 before no dirt is seen ?.

So it is in the Kingdom of God
At what point do you finally get it ?
For in Him there are many washings
Before you may finally see it.

We read and sit under preaching
And truth comes line upon line
And God allows certain experiences
So the washing becomes finally mine.

So healing and life is a process
Of washing of Spirit and the Word
Don’t give up on the process
And the things you’ve seen and heard.

For you don’t know what number washing
The Spirit has placed you in
Is it number 2 or 4 now ?
You may be just near the end.

Power to life overcoming

OK
So we are no longer under law
Is that what the new covenant is for ?
Not works; Jesus closed that door
So how do we do our living ?

‘cos
I need something stronger than me
A power to impart to me
A practical life I now need
Because my flesh has failed at trying.

Well
It’s about what you see and view
Not how you work or do
The old is dead and all is now new
It’s about seeing, knowing and believing.

Jesus
Is the key of life
Seeing hIs attributes cuts like a knife
Through barriers that hinder life’s rhyme
And gives power to life overcoming.

Seeing, knowing, believing.

Seeing, knowing, believing,
Is the key to living in the Kingdom
Seeing, knowing, believing,
Takes you out of the random.

Seeing, knowing, believing,
After I have turned my heart
Seeing, knowing, believing,
Comes after I’ve done that part.

Seeing, knowing, believing,
Is the new and living way
Seeing, knowing, believing,
Takes the heat out of work and play.

Seeing, knowing, believing,
Taps into the life of the Spirit
Seeing, knowing, believing,
The vine life puts me in it.

Seeing, knowing, believing,
All the things that He has done
Seeing, knowing, believing,
Imparts the life of the Son.

Seeing, knowing, believing,
new motivations to me give
Seeing, knowing, believing,
Teaches me how to live.

The exchanged life imparted within

Surely it’s more than forgiveness of sin
Surely it’s more than not going to the sin bin
Surely its not just getting out of hell
Surely its not just the church’s hard sell
But the exchanged life imparted within.

Surely it’s just not being a good boy
Surely it’s not just being a good girl
Surely it can’t be behaviour modification
Surely it’s about nature transformation
And the exchanged life imparted within.

It is certainly about His life imparted to me
It is certainly about His attributes I see
How can we live in our old condition
How can we live without our new position
And the exchanged life imparted within.

What is true of Jesus is true of me
What is true of Jesus is the life given to me
The power to live is His life in me
The power to live comes from His face I see
And the exchanged life imparted within.
