What is it that makes a Scottish man smile ?
Is it highlands and lochs that roll on for miles ?
Is it haggis or football or wearing a kilt ?
Or seeing those castles, a thousand years built ?
Is it hearing a poem written by Burns ?
Describing Scotland in Glaswegian terms ?
speaking in slang only Scottish sons know ?
Or watching a Firth as snow melted flows ?.
I think it is more than belonging tae a clan
There much more depth to a Scottish man
Its not if he sings those highland songs
But a question of where and to whom he belongs.
Please understand he is more than you see
He longs for truth and identity
That’s why he fights yet so easily cries
He longs for the answer of “who am I ?”.
