As the sun sets over the Australian sky
A new life starts and an old one dies
As I say farewell to my country of birth
I think of the things that will hold their worth.
A land that allows the church of God to grow
In soil that can reap the word of God it sows
The country where my children freely grew and learned
That the best things in life are God’s gifts not earned.
Where the clothes on our back came from the golden wool
The same ground came the food ‘n kept our stomach’s full
Where our spiritual and physical needs were met
And we anticipate the future and what happens next.
As we fly to the land of Wallace and Burns
And highlands and lochs and snow dusted ferns
A message that’s seared in our hearts to save
A people and land known as “Scotland the brave”.
